Drainage upgrade work to start in Cnoc na Greine
A contractor has been appointed to upgrade the drainage system in Cnoc na Greine and is expected to begin the works before the end of March, writes Brian Byrne.
The news has been welcomed by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, who has worked with the residents since she was elected in 2019 to have the estate taken in charge and many issues dealt with.
The estate was taken in charge by Kildare County Council in 2022, ending a two decades-long fight to have this achieved.
Since then, public lighting was upgraded and a tree survey has been carried out. "However the drainage works remained the biggest project to be completed, Cllr O'Dwyer says. "Uisce Eireann only recently authorised Kildare County Council to put the works out to tender and a contractor has now been confirmed and I very much look forward to the works commencing."
She has expressed her thanks both to the residents of the estate for their patience, and to the Builading Development Department in Kildare County Council for working with me throughout this process. "It has been a real team effort."
