New book recalls life of late Narraghmore farmer

A book recalling the life and times of the late Jim Connell of Loraine, near Narraghmore, will be launched at St Laurence's GAA Club on 22 April, writes Brian Byrne.

Based on a series of recordings made with his son Tom, A Life's Harvest: Stories from the homeplace Loraine will be launched by Minister of State Martin Heydon TD, and the MC for the evening will be noted local historian Frank Taffe.

Jim Connell was a local farmer, avid card player, and a strong supporter of St Laurence's.

The launch event begins at 8pm and €3 of the book's sale price will go to the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation.
