A reminder that a 'Musical Reflection in Holy Week' by Gormanstown Chapel Choir will raise funds in aid of Syrian refugees in Jordan.
The event, this week on Spy Wednesday 5 April, will run from 8pm and in addition to the choir will feature pieces performed by the Dara String Quartet.
Donations will go towards funding a mission to refugee camps in Jordan, beginning 28 April 2023 and which will include three volunteers from Kilcullen Parish. The mission, comprising some 80 self-funding volunteers from the US, Europe and the Middle East, will provide medical, paediatric, surgical and dental care, together with humanitarian aid, focused on refugee camps in Northern Jordan.
The money raised is used directly for purchase of medical and surgical supplies, in-country transport, and purchase of operating theatre time in participating local hospitals.
The twice a year programme is run by Atlantic Humanitarian Relief (AHR), which has been operating since 2011.
The evening will include commentary on music performed, with brief talks on the situation on the ground as it exists for Syrian refugees. All support will be appreciated.
