Appreciative reception for Siobhan's vegetarian workshop

There was a full and very appreciative audience for Siobhan Murphy's Vegetarian Cookery Workshop at The Old Hardware in Narraghmore earlier this week, writes Brian Byrne.
The Wednesday evening event was one in a series of Sustainability Workshops being organised by the local Tidy Towns group.
Siobhan, owner of the renowned Kalbarri Cookery School outside Kilcullen, showed how meat-free dishes could be both delicious and cost-effective, and among the examples she brought were a bean stew, fennel biscuits served with caramelised pears and mascarpone, and a very tasty melting mozzarella dish. She emphasised that the key to sustainable and delicious vegetarian meals was in the choice of best raw materials. Those attending the workshop gave a donation to Narraghmore Tidy Towns.
The next event in the series is a clothing Sustainability Workshop to encourage sewing, repair and upcycling. It will be held on Wednesday next 16 November between 7pm-9pm.
This workship is conducted by crafter Merrion Hibbits of A Material Thing and the cost is €15 per person. A place can be secured by calling Alison on 086 2567808.
