Kilcullen in GAA Healthy Clubs initiative

Kilcullen GAA are honoured to be one of the newest clubs part taking in the Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs, within the country, writes Bróna Dooley. This initiative focuses on encouraging healthier lives physically, mentally and emotionally. Myself and Maurice O’Brien and Liam Cronin are currently working behind the scenes  to help Kilcullen GAA achieve the first stage, the ‘Foundation Tier’.
The initiative focuses on areas such as Physical Activity & Social Games, Inclusivity & Diversity, Mental Fitness, Substance Use & Gambling, Healthy Eating and Community Development. We are delighted that we can say Kilcullen GAA are doing a lot of activities under these headings such as ‘Run Run Rudolph’, ‘The All Stars’,’ Mothers and Others’, and the newest addition of ‘The Field of Dreams walking track’, to name just a few.
Throughout 2025 we will be taking more steps to encourage this to continue in our community. It is important that the community of Kilcullen Town know that this initiative to encourage and include everyone within our town, not just the GAA community.
Most recently added to Kilcullen GAA is our ‘Healthy Club’ noticeboards. There are two boards, one located inside and another outside the GAA clubhouse. These noticeboards will keep members of Kilcullen GAA and the further community updated on events and information for the Healthy Club as well as services information, such as ‘The Samaritans’ contact information, which some may find beneficial.
We are welcoming new members to join the Healthy Club Committee. Any person interested can contact Bróna or Maurice.
