Benemerenti celebration for Norah Breslin

It was a joyous parish moment this morning when Norah Breslin was presented at Mass with the papal honour of the Benemerenti medal, writes Brian Byrne.
The award, assigned by Pope Francis, was for over 50 years of service in a range of ways to the parish of Kilcullen & Gormanstown, but especially her musical contributions with the Parish Choir. The presentation was made by Fr Gary Darby, and Norah was accompanied for the celebrations by her children, grandchildren and members of her extended family.
Many of her parish friends attended the Mass, at which the choir also performed. Afterwards there was a reception in the Parish Centre, where a birthday cake and flowers were also presented, to mark Norah's 98th birthday upcoming on Wednesday.
A selection of pictures are here, and as usual all the Diary's photos from the event can be seen here.
