Blood Donation Clinic coming to Kilcullen

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service mobile clinic will be in Kilcullen next Wednesday, 14 August. Donation is by appointment only. Phone 1800 222111 to make one. The venue is Scoil Bhride Kilcullen R56 RK83, and the clinic will be open from 3.30pm-8.10pm.
Blood Donation Facts:
- Only 3pc of the eligible population are blood donors but it is estimated one in four people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives.
- Approximately 8pc of these donors are O negative. However, as this blood can be transfused to patients of all groups, issues of this blood group to hospitals are frequently greater than 15pc thus requiring more frequent calls on donors of this group.
- The IBTS needs to collect over 3,000 units of blood every week to maintain the national blood supply.
You can check this webpage to see whether you're eligible to donate. The basic requirements are that if you're a first time donor, you must be under 65 and weigh at least 50 kg.
