Animal Shelter seeks interim home from February

The Kildare West Wicklow SPCA are going to have to leave the premises at Oldtown, Athgarvan, where they currently operate their animal Shelter, by next February, writes Brian Byrne. This means they will need an interim location pending the building of their new Shelter.
In their Summer Newsletter, the Society reports that although they have had 10 good years at their current premises, with a very good relationship with their landlord, they have now been served with a Notice to Quit by February next year as the property is to be sold.
"We had been hoping this day would not come and that we could enjoy continued use of our premises until such time as our proposed new Shelter is ready," the Society says. "Unfortunately it seems this is not to be."
They are now actively seeking an alternative home for the interim period. Should any of their supporters have, or be aware of, suitable and available premises then they really would appreciate hearing suggestions. Email kwwspca@gmail.com or call 085 2354939.
The organisation purchased land last year close to Kildare Town to build their permanent home. It is a 15-acre green field site and the Society is now working towards building a state-of-the-art animal welfare facility there, to cater primarily for dogs and cats but there will also be facilities for other rescue animals.
Upcoming fundraisers include participation at the Vintage Car Racing festival at Mondello Park on 10/11 August, the Wag & Bone Dog Show at Punchestown Racecourse on Sunday 8 September, and a Late Summer Bazaar on Sunday 29 September (or 13 October if the first day's weather causes postponement).
