Bardons gets permission for extra bedrooms

Permission has been granted for Bardons to change their frontage and add three ensuite bedrooms, with the intention of operating a boutique hotel, writes Brian Byrne. The existing ground floor takeaway operated under the name Alkebabish will be closed in the process.
There are 10 standard conditions to the permission granted to Cross and Hugo Enterprises, for which an appeal can be made within four weeks from 28/11/2023.
The present seven rooms which had been available on a room-only basis for a number of previous years were substantially upgraded in 2017.
The original building dates back to the 1800s when it was two houses. It was renovated around 1900 when the distinctive canted entrance bay was added and the property was operated as a hotel by the Bardon family. The building is protected by means of the Kildare Record of Protected Structures.
