People driving from Kilcullen to Newbridge from next Monday might prefer to go via the Curragh rather than through Athgarvan, because of roadworks due to start at Kilbelin, writes Brian Byrne.
The works by Killeen Civil Engineering on behalf of developers Glenveagh involve the provision of a new footpath and cycle lane from the stretch of road between The Gables Guest House and the start of the Belin Woods development.
A 3-way temporary traffic light system will be in place for the duration of the work, expected to last eight weeks. The contractor will be on site 8am-5pm each weekday and until 1pm on Saturdays.
It is understood that these works were due to begin in July, when local residents and business owners were circulated with a letter by Glenveagh. The contractor representative confirmed to the Diary this morning that they will now start on 11 September.
