Grants approved for Kilcullen organisations

Kilcullen groups and organisations have received a total of €16,400 in grants from the Community Support Fund, writes Brian Byrne.
The funds are from almost €319,000 for Kildare organisations confirmed by Minister Heather Humphries today.
The Kilcullen beneficiaries from the scheme are the 9th Kildare Kilcullen Scout Group which has received €1,459, Kilcullen Community Centre (€1,263), Kilcullen GAA (€1,340), Kilcullen Town Hall & Heritage Co Ltd (€1,825), Old Kilcullen Area Community Association (€3,074) and Teach na nDaoine Cill Chuillin (€7,439).
The news has been welcomed by local TD and Minister Martin Heydon, who notes the main aim of the once-off fund is to support groups with their energy bills, as well as with improvements to their facilities. "Many of these groups are run by volunteers who are managing funds in difficult circumstances," Minister Heydon said. "This additional funding will help with continuing costs and in some cases add to existing facilities.
