Thompson's Cross potholes disgrace
It is no news to motorists who regularly have to exit from the Kilgowan Road at Thompson's Cross that potholes there have been getting worse for months, writes Brian Byrne.
This is a busy and proven dangerous junction at the best of times, but when drivers have to take a quick exit when there's a break in the constant traffic, the potholes make things even more hairy.
Damage to car suspensions is just one issue. The real possibility of being bounced out of control during a crucial acceleration and turn is also ever-present.
As is a consequent potential for injury or a fatal traffic incident.
It's not good enough. The whole Thompson's Cross safety matter is not good enough under the best of conditions. These un-repaired potholes are a disgrace, compounding the other hazards.
Fix them.
