Parish Choir has Christmas get-together

The Kilcullen Parish Choir held a Christmas get-together last weekend in Fallons and took the opportunity to have a group photo taken, writes Brian Byrne.
This follows the publication in the Diary last month of a photo of the choir taken in 1972, at the celebrations for the centenary of Kilcullen Parish Church. The present choir sang at the recent 150th anniversary celebrations.
The choir welcomes new members, and would especially like to see younger generations joining in. Anybody interested can contact the current Musical Director Ursula O'Toole.
The conversation at the get-together included many fond stories of their previous Musical Director, Nora Breslin, who was unable to join them on the night because of the very extreme cold weather conditions.
On behalf of the membership, PJ Lydon thanked all the local businesses who had donated spot prizes for the evening, provided by Nolan’s Butchers, Hair Emporium, Murphy Design, Fountain Takeaway, Woodbine Books, Armelle's Kitchen, Appleton Property, Brennans Hardware, Centra, Burke's Chemist, Berney's Chemist, Kilcullen Dental, Dunlea Kia, Nichola Kennedy Optometrist, Eurospar, and Fallons.
Pictured above with Fr Martin Harte are Gertrude Coffey, Carmel Gleeson, Mary Maloney, John Kelly, Joe Kelly, Maurice O'Mahony, PJ Lydon, Enda Byrne, Noreen Tyrell, Ursula O'Toole, Marie Shanahan, and Michael Sammon.
