Coffee Morning for Kenya today

A reminder that all are invited to a Coffee Morning at the home of Joe Dooley, Esther Reddy and family this morning Saturday 24th July in aid of Maintain Hope from 11am to 2pm, writes Esther Reddy. Tables and chairs will be set up in the yard and garden to facilitate people being able to enjoy a cuppa, some cake and a chat in a safe manner and we hope to see you there.

2020-2021 has been challenging in so many ways. One of the challenges for charities has been in fundraising. Maintain Hope has always enjoyed the generous support of the people of Kilcullen and surrounding areas when concerts, raffles and street collections were held, but during the pandemic, none of these events were possible. Coffee for Kenya on July 24th will be the first opportunity that Maintain Hope will have to hold a public fundraising event and the directors of this charity, David, Gerry and Esther, look forward to being able to meet you and to let you know how much your support is appreciated.

The children and families that Maintain Hope support are keeping well, thank God. Despite the pandemic, the children have been back at school since last October with books, uniforms and school fees paid as a result of the generosity people have shown through Maintain Hope. To keep the children as safe as possible in school, the focus has been on learning out doors. There could be no greater ventilation than an outdoor classroom! Maintain Hope has provided the necessary outdoor furniture for four primary schools to facilitate teaching and learning. Children can also meet there after school for the homework clubs, which are also supported by Maintain Hope.

Education is the key to earning a livelihood in Kenya and with this in mind, Maintain Hope has formed a strong connection with St Joseph's Vocational Training Institute in Ngong. In St Joseph's, young people learn hands on skills which will guarantee them jobs as mechanics, carpenters, seamstresses and so on. Other young people that Maintain Hope support go on to college and indeed, one such young person, Zeitun, has almost finished her primary teaching degree! Anyone who has put even a cent into a Maintain Hope collection box over the past number of years can take pride in Zeitun's achievements. Without your help, this would not have been possible.

So please join us on the morning of July 24th and give what you can to provide and maintain hope for children and young people in Kenya. Venue: White Hall Cottage, White Hall, Kilcullen R56EY19.

(Maintain Hope is registered with and regulated by the Charities Regulatory Authority. The Registered Charity Number is 20155797. The directors of Maintain Hope are David Dempsey, Esther Reddy and Gerry O’Donoghue and the directors do not receive any payment. The administration fees for Maintain Hope are covered by the directors, so that every cent you give goes directly to the support of the families in Kenya.)
