Law unto themselves: Irish Water continues to ignore Council

Despite motions and questions at Kildare County Council since last June, Irish Water has ignored the Council's request for a meeting on their plans to change the water supply in the Kilcullen and Naas areas from the Liffey supply to water from the Barrow, writes Brian Byrne.

Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer
, who has been pushing the issue with her Naas MD colleague Cllr Evie Sammon, says that IW hasn't even acknowledged the request from the Council, nor have they provided a map of the plan.

Irish Water is currently undertaking works in the Gilltown, Brannockstown, Carnalway, Two Mile House and surrounding areas. Cllr O'Dwyer says she is led to believe that these works are in furtherance of IW's plan.

In a statement last evening, both councillors have invited anyone concerned with these changes to contact them, at traceyodwyerfg@gmail.com or eviesammonfg@gmail.com.
