Gormanstown participation in Service of Nine Lessons and Carols

Barney and Dorly O'Sullivan participated in an online virtual choirs performance during a seasonal Service of Nine Lessons and Carols streamed on Sunday from the Church of Ireland parishes of St Brigid's Stillorgan & All Saints' Blackrock, Dublin, writes Brian Byrne.

The event was a special Christmas collaboration of choirs and parishes from across Ireland. A similar event had become a tradition in Kilcullen Parish Church, but was one of the many things this year that fell victim to the restrictions of Covid-19.

The Service was introduced by the Most Rev Dr Michael Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin and Bishop of Glendalough. The choirs presentation opened and closed the event with Once in Royal David's City and Hark the Herald Angels Sing which can be seen at 1.41 and 43 minutes in respectively on the Youtube video above. Other carols through the Service included O Little Town of Bethlehem, O Holy Night, Silent Night, Away in a Manger, Oh Come All Ye Faithful.

Musical direction was by Tom Maxwell, and the organist was David Adams. The presentation was produced by Simon Grier.
