Weatherday: Bloody Sunday

A damp start will clear to sunny spells through the morning. Should remain dry through the afternoon.

Moderate breezes from the southwest will slacken off. Highest temperature 8deg.

On this day in 1920, a Sunday, 12 people were killed at Croke Park when a Black and Tan group opened fire during a game between Dublin and Tipperary. Three more prisoners were killed by the auxiliaries that evening. The Bloody Sunday massacre was in retaliation for the assassination that morning of 14 British Intelligence members in Dublin on Michael Collins's orders.
