Thoughts for food treats today

A reminder that for Saturday morning goodies, there are several options in the Kilcullen area, writes Brian Byrne.

Crean's Place will be at Kilcullen Community Centre from 10am to noon with coffees, sourdoughs and pastries as well as John and Paddy’s milk and eggs. Bring your own coffee cups, bags, containers, bottles and egg cartons.

Kalbarri Cookery Bake Shop is open on the Carnalway Road from 10am, and the special this morning is lemon meringue pie with homemade curd.

Armelle's Kitchen has the usual range of patisserie goodies for the sweet of tooth, and this morning's savoury offerings include Beef Noodle Stir Fry and a selection of Quiches. Order in advance, or drop by the shop 045 480697.

And there's always time for a Saturday coffee and chat at The River Cafe,  and a browse in Fallons Gourmet Garage for something special for this evening's meal at home.
