Weatherday: The wounded seldom cry

A bright day with lots of sun, a little cloud. Gentle northerly breezes shifting variable in late afternoon.

Temperatures climb quickly to 21deg by mid-morning, then way up to 26deg in late afternoon. There's a yellow thunderstorms alert from then, though locally we may escape until late tonight deluges and hail forecast for some parts of the country.

On this day in 1950 the Korean War began after North Korean forces crossed the border with South Korea. Lasting just over three years, it is estimated it cost up to three million civilian lives.
