More Kilcullen businesses, facilities, reopen slowly
A number of businesses and community facilities in Kilcullen are reopening in a limited way from today, under Phase 2 of the government's roadmap to recovery, writes Brian Byrne.
They include the Secret Kloset ladies shop on Hillcrest, with limits on the number of shoppers at a time, social distancing, and steam disinfecting of clothing which has been tried on but not purchased.
Woodbine Books is also reopening for sales 'through the door', with displays of new books in the window and the possibility of briefly looking through a specifically requested book. Social distancing will apply. The shop hopes to extend to 'browsing by appointment' and other limited access as time goes on. Opening hours are 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Ger Dooley's Kildare Bathroom Company is reopening today, with appointments for those wishing to visit the showrooms. Call 045 482940 for appointment.
The All Weather Pitch at Kilcullen Community Centre will be open for training sessions from today, in which there will be no physical contact between players. All sessions must be booked with the Centre, and participating sports groups must have authorisation from their governing bodies.
Kilcullen's Library will be reopening tomorrow for 'contact and collect' service only for the moment. Further services will be reopened as time goes on.
Travel restrictions have also been eased, with people now being allowed to venture anywhere in their county on non-essential journeys. Those living near a county border can go to neighbouring counties to within 20km of their homes.
Cafes and restaurants which have been offering takeaway foods and beverages will continue to operate as they have been, with details available on the daily and weekend takeaway meals options from Fallons Gourmet Garage, Armelle's Kitchen, Kalbarri Cookery School, Bardons, Alkebabish, Crean's Place, and the Brown Bear. Also The River Cafe Kilcullen is again selling through the door this week 10am-2.30pm - coffees, fresh baking, breakfast baps, tray bakes. And Rea's Takeaway is open for collection and delivery 045 480537. Jane Russell's Handmade Sausages can be ordered online.
