Call for mentors in basic digital skills

A call for people with digital skills who might be in a position to mentor people in the community unable to use technology for family video calls or accessing online services has been made through the Kilcullen Text Alert scheme, writes Brian Byrne.

The request is from Conor O'Leary of Muintir na Tire, who is that organisation's representative on the Kildare Covid-19 Community Response Forum.

As a potential need identified by the Forum in its work since it was established at the end of March, the initiative would provide support to both teach the skills where needed, and also provide equipment such as a tablet which might be required.

"We're not looking for individual donations of equipment," Conor told the Diary. "But we might be able to access suitable resources from some other organisations who are in a position to supply and set-up."

Anyone interested in helping out should contact any member of the Kilcullen Text Alert Committee — such as Sabina Reddy, Jon Brien, and Alan O'Grady. Conor O'Leary can be contacted direct at 086 6000753.
