John Martin in Kilcullen Culture Night this evening
A reminder that tonight is National Culture Night and this evening Kilcullen writer John Martin will showcase in Kilcullen Library a selection from his works during over 40 years, writes Brian Byrne.
The event begins at 8pm in Kilcullen Community Library and will feature some of his short stories, poetry, radio drama extracts, and more.
The evening will also feature a number of his paintings.
The event is free, though not suitable for children. It will be one of over 80 presentations in venues across County Kildare, which is celebrating 10 years of participation in the national Culture Night.
They will include music, visual art exhibitions, craft workshops and demonstrations, sport and wellbeing experiences, spoken word events, tours, theatre plays, film screenings, culinary and nature events and much more.
The County' Culture Ambassador for this year is stained-glass artist Margaret Becker, who has been immersed in the arts scene in Kildare for many years. Her work appears in many churches and public buildings across the country.
