Garda Band plays for Ballyshannon NS
Ballyshannon National School pupils and staff had a real treat yesterday when the Garda Band came along to entertain them, writes Brian Byrne.
Though the hall beside the school was lined up as a Plan B, the really beautiful morning meant that the performance could be held outdoors, with many parents coming along also to enjoy the show.
The Band was under the baton of Mark Wilde, and played through a wide repertoire, including some music which the children were very familiar with, such as themes from Sponge Bob and The Simpsons.
He also used the occasion to explain the different instruments to the young audience, and some of the pupils came up do do a bit of conducting (Oisin and Cathal) and singing themselves.
