Several Kilcullen issues for Council mention on Tuesday
The dangerous traffic conditions at Thompson's Cross will again come up for Kildare County Council at the next meeting of the Naas Municipal District, due to be held at 3.30pm on Tuesday 19 March in Áras Chill Dara, writes Brian Byrne. The matter is among a number of Kilcullen issues to be raised.
Cllr Billy Hillis is asking that the Council consider 'additional safety measures' at the cross, and also at Perrystreet cross roads in Ballymore. This is in the light recent accidents at both junctions, the councillor says. He is also asking for an outline on progress with 'the badly needed distributor road in Kilcullen' and what are the next steps for its delivery?
Cllr Hillis is also seeking consideration for speed control measures outside Two Mile House National School.
And Cllr Fintan Brett is asking that the Council work with Kilcullen Community Centre to 'improve the crossing at Pinkeen Stream' and that a pedestrian bridge be considered there in light of the significant usage from Cnoc na Greine and Castlemartin estates to Scoil Bhride, the Community Centre and the playground and sports grounds. The councillor raised this issue before in May of 2016.
Cllr Brett also has a motion seeking an additional traffic ramp in Brannockstown to supplement the two already in the village near the school.
