It's the Geraldine School of Dancing, because dancers from the school will be performing both at the St Patrick's Day Parade here and in the Irish Festival at Killington.
The nine-strong group for America flew out today with their teacher Tracey O'Dwyer, and they'll be in Vermont through the weekend, coming back on Tuesday next.
"It has been a very busy few weeks for the dancers," Tracey says. "While preparing for the recent Kilcullen Parish Feis they were also getting ready for the Kilcullen Parade and the Killington Irish Festival. For these second group of dancers it's a great opportunity to showcase their talent and represent Kilcullen on an international stage."
The the local ski club Killington has also invited the group to take part in a day of ski school. "They have offered to provide all the gear the girls will need and teach them the basics so they are really looking forward to that."
Meanwhile back home, younger dancers are particularly excited about the parade and can’t wait to take part. The dancers will be led by senior dancer Elaine Birchall and Caitriona Birchall. "Catriona danced with the school in my mum’s time and traveled herself on many a trip with my mum. The home parade is equally, if not more, important than the Killington trip, and I hope there is a good turnout from the school."
