Has anyone seen our posters?
Kieran Behan and I put up four corriboard-backed posters in Kilcullen this morning (Sunday 17th Feb) to publicise the talk by Des Travers on his war crimes investigations (Naas Town Hall — Tuesday 26th Feb at 8pm), writes Orla O'Neill. The event is being hosted by the Kildare Palestine Solidarity Campaign but the talk is not exclusively about war crimes in Palestine.
We were (almost) within the seven day window allowed to publicise events with posters and had contact information if anyone had a difficulty. However, between 4.30pm and 7.30pm Sunday evening, someone took it upon themselves to remove the four posters. As they were secured with cable ties, they would have had to cut them to take them down. Another one (pictured here) was ripped down from a pole outside Kilcullen mart and left on the ground.
We don't have funds to print more posters so we want them back. Has anyone seen them dumped anywhere?
Those of us who are activists for Palestine are not surprised with this type of behaviour, it isn't unusual.
However it is doubly concerning that this has happened in Kilcullen as we are honoured to have the event speaker, Des Travers, living amongst us. He and his colleagues have worked tirelessly to document atrocities and their efforts go some way to getting justice for innocent men, women and children slaughtered with impunity by war criminals.
And for the person who is trying to silence the truth? The Kilcullen resident who sent us this photo to alert us to it having been ripped down has since signed up to be a member of the Kildare Palestine Solidarity Group.
