Ciara O’Reilly is local Labour candidate in May elections

Ciara O’Reilly has been selected as a local election candidate for the Labour Party in the newly formed Newbridge Local Electoral Area, which includes Kilcullen and Athgarvan.

Having grown up in rural Kilcullen, attending Cross and Passion College Kilcullen, Ciara went on to study in Carlow IT, DIT and WIT. She attained degrees in both Architectural Technology and Architecture, spending over 20 years in the construction and architecture industry, working in Kildare and Dublin, including with Murphy Surveys Ltd here in Kilcullen.

Ciara lives and works in Co Kildare, her children attending CPC also. She is the chairperson for the Newbridge Branch of the Labour Party, and the Secretary for Kildare South Constituency. Coming from a strong Trade Union family background, her fundamental outlook is based on social democratic values. Ciara was heavily involved with the Repeal the 8th Campaign at both local and national level. She was the Election Agent for Michael D Higgins in Kildare South in the recent presidential elections last autumn.

“I believe we have much potential as yet untapped in our local area. I feel it is of utmost importance that we develop in a sustainable way which focuses on quality of life for us all. An integral part of this is providing affordable, reliable transport and infrastructure. I want to work to help develop our towns with sustainable jobs and sustainable growth for our future, whilst conserving and celebrating our heritage.

"I am passionate about social justice and equality and feel we have a progressive outlook here in Newbridge. I would like to be the voice to represent you and your concerns. Local government policy affects us all and has a great impact on our daily lives. Your opinion matters, so make your voice heard. We can make a difference.

"Unfortunately, for the third consecutive election, Kilcullen finds itself in yet another electoral area, it’s time that Kilcullen had its own local councillor, and with your support, I can make this happen.”

Please feel free to contact Ciara with any issues or suggestions you may have affecting our community. A local community advice clinic shall be held in Kilcullen over the coming weeks, watch out for details.
