Scoil Bhride Christmas CD arrives

The Christmas CD recently recorded by pupils at Scoil Bhride is now available for sale at €10 a copy, writes Brian Byrne.

'Happy Christmas' can be purchased at the school, and it will also be on sale this weekend, at the Christmas Market on Saturday and at the school's Christmas Fair on Sunday.

The styles are a mix of traditional Christmas carols including 'Silent Night', 'Away in a Manger', and 'Adeste Fideles', as well as popular seasonal songs such as 'Jingle Bell Rock' and 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'. The teachers of each class group rehearsed their pupils in their individual performances.

The disc has 14 tracks recorded by different class groups and by the school choir, and there's a 'bonus track' of 'Ding Dong Merrily on High' performed by teachers Siobhan Clifford and Katie Lucey, who provided the accompaniment throughout.

Groups from the various classes took their turns to record early last month in a classroom which had been turned into a recording studio for the day.

All the artwork on the CD was provided by students at the school, and the production was by Bogdan Music.
