Relay for Life ends early due to weather

The Relay for Life Kildare weekend event which began yesterday had to be concluded early last evening because of adverse weather conditions, writes Brian Byrne.

The organisers ended it after high winds had made the marquees unsafe at the Punchestown venue.

Saying they were 'devastated', they added that nobody should travel to Punchestown today except teams who had left materials and equipment behind.

The Kilcullen Relay for Life Team has expressed its thanks to everybody who called to their stand on Saturday and especially to the Candle of Hope Ceremony.

Kilcullen Gospel Choir also performed at the event during the afternoon.
