Kilcullen young people score for Kildare in national games
The Community Games national festival kicked off last weekend in Athlone, writes Papillon Rabbitte. The festival runs over two weekends and is host to hundreds of children representing their respective counties as well as the many volunteers from around the country.
It is a great achievement to reach the national finals and the atmosphere at the event was a tribute to all the volunteers and organisers who gave so generously of their free time and made the experience a memorable one for all the children who took part in the different events.
Our own Kilcullen representatives were once again among the medals with Leon Cullen (above right) taking silver in the under-14 art competition and Molly Aspell (above left) also receiving a national medal as part of the under-14 Kildare cross country team. Congratulations to them both.
This coming weekend (23rd and 24th) is the final weekend of the games and we wish all the best to this weekend's Kilcullen contingent who will be wearing their Kildare colours proudly.
