Kilcullen at the Manley Hopkins
Kilcullen musical performers will feature at two events in the upcoming Gerard Manley Hopkins Literary Festival, writes Brian Byrne.
Both take place on Sunday 26 July, with the Gormanstown Church Choir directed by Dorly O'Sullivan (right) singing at the Manley Hopkins Mass at 10.30am in Newbridge College Chapel; at which the organist will be Peter Moloney (above). Peter will also play for 25 minutes before the mass, with music by Bach, Franck, Harris, and Thalbon-Ball.
The music during the ceremony will include Schubert's German Mass in D (1826) as well as pieces by Lotti, Bach and Pierluigi, and Sigfrid Karg-Elert's 'Now Thank We All Our God'.
In the afternoon, Peter will give an organ recital at Maynooth College in the College Chapel from 4pm, with music from Bach and Boellmann.
The Festival runs from Friday 24 July to Thursday the 30th. Full information from gerardmanleyhopkins.org.
