A Bat Walk in Ballymore, a Naas Nature Cycle, and a Butterfly Walk and Talk at Lullymore are just a few of the nearby Kildare events for National Biodiversity Week 2025, writes Brian Byrne. The week runs from Saturday, 17 May, until Sunday, 25th.
The Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council, Cllr Kevin Duffy, said it is important to acknowledge and celebrate nature and all it does. "Biodiversity Week is a fantastic opportunity to embrace and celebrate Kildare’s nature, wildlife, and beautiful natural landscapes.”
Kildare's Biodiversity Officer, Dr Meabh Boylan, says being out of doors in nature is important for health and well-being. "Having support to interpret what we are seeing, hearing, and experiencing is an invaluable opportunity to learn," she says, "and to really understand the importance of the local plants and animals, and how they support us daily."
She commended all involved in organising the many events and added that Kildare is fortunate to have such knowledgeable and generous nature enthusiasts, professionals, and local people dedicated to sharing their love of wildlife and nature.
An online version of the programme booklet can be accessed at this link, and the physical booklet is available at libraries in the county.
