Carnalway road resurfaced
The road between Logstown and Carnalway has finally been resurfaced after being an issue for more than half a decade, writes Brian Byrne. The work has been welcomed by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, who regularly raised the matter at the Kildare-Newbridge MD.
Sections at the Logstown and Carnalway ends were resurfaced in 2021 and 2023 respectively but in between was left very potholed.
Maintenance on the road has been an issue for many years, but despite a commitment from the council in 2021 that works would be completed during that year, that didn't happen and the following year the plan didn't roll over.
Apart from rough surface damage to cars, the road had been seriously dangerous as a tumble and trip hazard for pedestrians and cyclists.
