Planning lodged for EV charging expansion at Kilcullen Circle K
A planning application for a 10-unit high-power electric vehicle charging hub at the Kilcullen Circle K M9 Service Area has been lodged with Kildare County Council, writes Brian Byrne.
The proposal, by Beech Hill Gateway Services DAC, includes associated infrastructure and spaces for charging 20 vehicles at a time. A new canopy with associated illuminated signage and a new modular ESB Substation are also in the application as well as associated revisions to existing landscaped area and a pedestrian walk way.
The full details are available at the Kildare County Council planning portal. Submissions can be made up to 21 January 2025. The file number is 2461316.
The location is one of 17 on major roads around the country in which charging 'pools' will be built with banks of charging points, according to an announcement made in July.
