Scoil Bhride helps with Kilcullen GAA 'Kroker' fundraiser

Pupils and teachers at Scoil Bhride Kilcullen took part in a sponsored Solothon yesterday in support of Kilcullen GAA's Kroker to Kilcullen and Back Solothon fundraiser, writes Brian Byrne. It was coordinated by Shelly O'Brien and also included an exhibition game of camogie by the school's young players.
The Scoil Bhride event included the teachers doing solo runs up and down the school pitch, in the process displaying varying degrees of proficiency. At the same time, pupils from the school carried out their solos around the school running track. The total sponsored will be known on Friday.
The Kroker fundraiser is aimed at raising €60,000 towards the cost of resurfacing the original car park beside the clubhouse. It will include the gathering of around 500 of the club's players on Sunday 3 November to complete the 100km Solothon around the main pitch, equivalent to the return distance from Kilcullen to Croke Park.
