Kilcullen Christmas shopping special day

A Christmas shopping experience in Kilcullen is being planned by the town's businesses, to coincide with the switching on of the Christmas lights, writes Brian Byrne. The initiative by members of the Kilcullen Business Group will have the street 'buzzing with festive cheer'.
On December 6th there will be face-painting, mulled wine and mince pies and hot chocolate offered to people shopping in the town, when it is hoped to provide 'an enchanting Christmas atmosphere'. "Santa himself will make a special appearance to switch on the Christmas lights," a spokesperson for the business group says, saying this KCA annual switch-on will be followed by a 'soulful performance' by Kilcullen Gospel Choir. There will be free treats provided for children to enjoy while watching the Late Late Toy Show later in the evening.
The Christmas shopping promotional event, which will run from 10am-7pm with special offers in every shop, is part of a cooperative push by local street-facing and home enterprises to help keep business in the town at key buying periods. It follows a very successful workshop recently with the highly respected business consultant Miriam Simon in association with Kildare LEO.
