Emma's Space Cowboy in contention for major song final
The latest song from Kilcullen singer-songwriter Emma Noodles may catapult her into the final of a national music competition organised by 21 Irish radio stations, writes Brian Byrne. Space Cowboy is Emma's fourth song to drop this year, continuing what has been a very busy time for her.
The video for the song, about an alien girl falling in love with an alien cowboy, was shot at a 'wild west' farm in Co Wicklow. The song won for former CPC student Emma a nomination to the final of the Irish Music Month Local Hero singing competition, representing Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. Of the 21 long-listers in the competition, six will be chosen for the live final in The Academy, Dublin, on 15 October.
In addition to writing her own songs, Emma also concepts and directs the videos to accompany them. She's the daughter of Suzanne and singer Joey Lee Lawlor of Castlemartin in Kilcullen, so it's no surprise that there's music in her soul.
With a dream to have a career in music, Emma currently works in a creche and spends her weekends with music industry friends working on making her dream happen.
Her first video The Stars We Shine was released just last September. She also did a live performance at a festival in Whelan's of Dublin during the summer. Her music can be heard on Spotify and YouTube, the latter also the space to watch her very creative videos.
Emma's full story can be read in next week's Kildare Nationalist.
