Did YOU forget something?

It has to be said that things are not nearly as bad as in previous years in summer-day riverbank litter, writes Brian Byrne. The message seems to be getting through. 

But members of the public have alerted the Diary to stuff left behind after yesterday's appearance of a very scarce summer. The collage above is compiled from two popular swimming spots during a short walk along the river bank this morning.

"It was lovely to see young local people using the river to swim," one reader noted. "But when all were gone, their rubbish was left behind."

Maybe if there are a few more fine days, those making the most of the wonderful facility of the local Liffey might leave their rubbish in a bin on the way home?  And meantime, a big thanks to those who do so already.
