Better repairs promised for Thompson's Cross

The patching done in 2023.

A contractor is to carry out cutout and resurfacing repairs at Thompson's Cross for Kildare County Council, writes Brian Byrne. This follows a request by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer to do more than just patch the potholes.
At today's meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, the councillor detailed the effects on the junction because of the sheer volume of traffic, including HGVs which can lose bits of their load there, adding to the issue of potholes.
Cllr O'Dwyer described the junction as a 'very busy gateway' to Newbridge for traffic coming from the south. "It's in a really bad state," she said. "It needs a better job than just patching potholes."
The report to the councillors motion at the meeting confirmed that the repairs will be carried out 'subject to budget'.
