The opportunities available for local businesses in accessing grants were highlighted last evening at the first enterprise roadshow event hosted by the Kilcullen Business Group, writes Brian Byrne. Around 25 local businesses were present at the event, held in Fallons, with a number of others sending apologies due to other commitments on the night.
Representatives from Local Enterprise Office Kildare (LEO) provided background and details of the Retail Enhancement Support grants, with an emphasis on those for shop front improvements, window displays and age-friendly modifications to retail premises.
There was also a discussion about the energy efficiency grant, which has been increased from €5,000 to €8,000, and the trading online vouchers available for those who operate online shops and online booking systems.
"There were many questions," says Nichola Kennedy of the Kilcullen Business Group, adding that it was a great turnout for a small town "with great interest in coming together as a town of businesses, to keep business in town!"
Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer said afterwards there was plenty of 'food for thought' after the presentation. "I have no doubt it is the start of a very productive relationship between Kilcullen Business and the team in the Kildare Local Enterprise Office," she said, expressing her thanks to the LEO Kildare representatives.
Another event is being scheduled for August, which will focus on specific ways for retail enterprises to make the most of seasonal business opportunities. Nichola thanked those who attended last night and those who had sent their apologies.
