The new extension and refurbishment for Cross & Passion College is now going to tender, with a contractor to be appointed by the end of the year, writes Brian Byrne. The announcement was made today by Minister for Education Norma Foley TD, with the Kilcullen school among six large scale projects known as 'Project Boyne'.
In all, the schools involved in counties Carlow, Kildare, Meath and Wicklow will cater for over 5,750 students. CPC will be able to accommodate 1,000 with the new and refurbished space.
The project is being delivered by the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) on a devolved basis for the Department. The Department today issued authorisation to complete remaining work on the preparation of tender documents required for public procurement of building contractors for all six schools for the end of the year.
A Design Team was appointed in 2021 to progress the CPC extension as well as one in the Patrician Post Primary in Newbridge. This was shortly after initial agreement to prepare documents for tender was given. The proposed extension to CPC was initially announced in July of 2018.
Today's news for Kilcullen has been welcomed by Minister of State Martin Heydon TD and Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer.
