Kildare Reads presents Declan O'Rourke and Flor MacCarthy
A conversation between singer-songwriter and author Declan O'Rourke and former RTÉ presenter and broadcaster Flor MacCarthy will be held in Newbridge Library on Tuesday 28 May beginning at 7pm.
The event is part of the Kildare Reads series, presented by Kildare Readers Festival in association with the Irish Writers Centre.
Declan O'Rourke's Pawn Broker's Reward and Whisper of Oblivion are the first two books of his trilogy set in the famine years. They tell the story of Pádraig and Cáil Ua Buachalla, based on real lives and events in the early months of the Great Hunger.
Flor MacCarthy is a political presenter and broadcaster who has worked with RTE and Oireachtas TV. She has interviewed politicians and academics and acted as a consultant for several international human rights organisations. She has a passion for history and arts. The Presidents' Letters, her first book, is a homage to the art of letter writing and was nominated for the An Post Irish Book Awards.
Kildare Readers Festival is held every year in October by Kildare County Library and Arts Service. The ethos is to connect readers with authors and artists, working to bring the very best from the world of literature through the provision of exciting, innovative and accessible events. Since its inception in 2010, festival audiences have continued to grow.
