Funding has been allocated for a study on the potential of making the Corbally link canal a greenway, writes Brian Byrne.
The funding of €45,000 was announced by Minister Heather Humphries for the Corbally Canal and River Liffey Corridor Enhancement Feasibility study.
The news was welcomed by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer who has been seeking such a study since January 2021. At that time she proposed the natural upgrading of the canal bank between Corbally Harbour outside Kilcullen and Naas as a biodiversity walking trail.
The councillor has thanked the forward planning department in Kildare County Council for putting the project forward for funding consideration.
