GAA expansion taking shape
After almost four months of pushing and shovelling some 9,300 cubic metres of topsoil, the levels of Kilcullen GAA's 'Field of Dreams' are becoming apparent, writes Brian Byrne.
The project provides for a second full-size pitch and two Juvenile training pitches, as well as a skills arena and new car parking facilities. A public walk and cycle way around the campus is also part of the development.
Costed at just under a million euro, the development is on land acquired from Kildare County Council under a land swap arrangement which will eventually see the completion of the link road between Knockbounce and the Newbridge Road.
The club has been running a range of fundraising schemes, and is being supported by other community groups in the programme.
