The defibrillator (AED) at Kilcullen Community Centre was used on Saturday to revive a man who had suffered cardiac arrest, writes Brian Byrne.
The 50-year-old man became ill while playing basketball.
Members of the Centre staff administered CPR and the Kilcullen Community First Responders deployed the AED and successfully restarted the man's heart.
As the AED is now out of action pending the arrival of new pads, Newbridge CFR has provided the loan of a portable AED to the Centre.
The permanent AED was installed at the Community Centre in 2017 with the help of a grant from Kildare Credit Union.
Kilcullen CFR are currently running a fundraising campaign for replacement AED pads to have in stock when required.
