Helicopter wreckage taken from crash site

Air accident investigators have completed their on-site investigations of yesterday’s helicopter crash at Kennycourt, writes Brian Byrne.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit of the Department of Transport say the aircraft involved was a US-registered Robinson R44, and the wreckage was being transported to the unit’s examination facility at Gormanston, Co Meath.
Following consideration of all the circumstances surrounding the circumstances, a Preliminary Report will be published within one month.
Investigators were on site late yesterday until dark and again after first light this morning.
The helicopter crashed at around 3pm yesterday afternoon in a field near Kennycourt Lodge. One person died in the accident.
