Music festival will honour Liam O'Flynn

A musical festival named after the late piper Liam O'Flynn will be held in Naas and Kill Village on the weekend of 7-9 October, writes Brian Byrne.
Féile Liam O'Flynn will feature the cream of Irish music artistes, including Liam Ó Maonlaoi, Matt Molloy, Sean Keane, Dónal Lunny, and Paddy Glackin.
Others appearing at various venues across the two communities include the Kilfenora Céile Band and the Kildare Youth Orchestra.
The event will include a Sessions Trail, Piping and Harp workshops, and Céile Dancing.
Tickets can be booked at moattheatre.ticketsolve.com, and further information is available by emailing info@feileliamoflynn.ie.
Liam O'Flynn passed away in 2018. The Kill-born musician was a frequent visitor to Kilcullen through the years, and in 2008 he was commissioned by Kilcullen Community Action to compose a piece to mark the dedication of the Dun Ailinne Interpretive Park. 'Dun Ailinne and the Clann March' was sponsored by Dr Tony O'Reilly of Castlemartin House, and debuted by Liam in a really extraordinary evening in Kilcullen Town Hall in 2008 during the dedication celebrations of the sculpture
