Last night's mass and reception in thanksgiving for Fr Mackey’s ministry in Kilcullen over the last nine years brought out a large cohort of the parish community to wish him well, writes Nessa Dunlea. The Mass was celebrated by Fr Mackey, and his three nieces were in attendance.
At the reception in the Parish Centre, Liam McDonnell presented a cheque on behalf of the parishioners, and also Fr Mackey was given a life-time ticket for our Parish Lotto.
After the cutting of the farewell cake, Fr Harte entertained us with a rendition of 'Dublin's Fair City' and PJ Lydon did likewise with 'Goodbye'.
It was a very pleasant evening.
