Councillors to vote on speed limits next Monday
Inadequate space for trucks shows lunacy of increasing the limit. |
A special meeting of Kildare County Council will be held on Monday next to decide on the changes to speed limits in the county, writes Brian Byrne.
The meeting is being held at 2pm, and one of the local contentious proposals relates to the Sunnyhill Road.
The current proposal from the Council is to increase the speed limit on the road from 60km/h to 80km/h, a matter which has been the subject of much local concern. Residents have long called for the existing 60km/h limit section to be lowered to 50km/h.
A similar proposal to raise the speed limit on the New Abbey Road has also drawn much opposition.
The Diary understands that the Council has not lowered their proposed limits in advance of next week's meeting.
