One of a series of initiatives to support remote working will provide free access to local digital hubs, writes Brian Byrne.
The system will operate by means of a voucher scheme, offering access to some 242 remote working hubs around the country.
Bookings can currently be made with these facilities through the Connected Hubs app, and normally working in the hubs can cost up to €20 a day. The scheme, to be announced today, will offer up to three free days access to such hubs for remote workers.
There are eight digital hubs in County Kildare, located in Allenwood, Naas, Kildare town, Newbridge, Ballymore Eustace and Ballitore.
Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys will also announce an investment of €5 million to improve 81 remote working facilities nationwide.
A special funding of €50,000 to each local authority under the 2020 Town and Village Renewal Scheme can be used to promote local remote working opportunities.
